Can't believe I was the only one to print of the "Stick It To MS" logo & put it on their bass skin. Or the only one I saw, anyway!
Does anyone know if their is going to be a DVD of the event?
Cheers

Hey Smoff sorry I missed you, I asked your missus about the logo, I cut out the largest logo off the Flyer and stuck it on my Bass.
What an awsome day, I tried to get around to meeting most people off the forum, managed a few, Ended up drumming beside Gretchman. Top day

Hey everyone! Great to meet and talk to people today! Some beautiful kits around aswell. Well done to everyone, I had a great weekend and made the 300 mile round trip completely worth it. Did I hear rumours that we'd be doing Wembley next year

Re: Yeah!!!! we did it!
wat i didnt understand was they were sayin dont wantch the screens watch us!
why didnt we all just follow the screens then instead of him???
theres some stuff on sky, bbc, itv, the telegraph. we were on bbc and itv 2night, but didnt see anything that fred filmed sooooooooo im thinkin it will maybe be on "this morning" (to do a follow up from last week when john thompson was on) or itv 2morrow night (in my area northwest tonight). But im sure more will pop up.
I think i heard rick say today that with all the footage they got they were thinkin of doin a dvd to sell to help raise more money for MS but im not 100%
An i still carnt get over how good Robin Guy was!!!! the stuff he did with them sticks was mental an when he was playin i was stood at the front of the stage laughin an he was like "ha ha watch this" totally blew me away!!!!

I thought the quality of drummers was excellent, just a quick walk around the venue showed what tallent this country has. Did anybody see that young left hand drummer on the right hand side near the toilets with the flame kit. I thought he was ace. Well done everybody it was amazing. Same time next year then, my house, I've got biscuits.
He was sat directly behind me.
Really nice kid but I did have to retrieve one or two of his sticks that flew past my ear.
The kid with the glasses directly in front of me was amazing too, he kept playing some really complex Latin and samba rhythms.
The talent in the room was amazing.
Re: Yeah!!!! we did it!
The reason for NOT watching the screens was a long delay between what the conductor was doing and it appearing on screen, so those that played to the screen were out of time
And don't be too hard on the guy, he hadn't done anything like that before and it's easy to critisise in hindsight
For the next event, the conductor needs to be
a: dressed very brightly so as to stand out
b: be raised up initially
c: be lit!!! which was one of the main problems
To be fair, most of us near the front took our cue from Mr Brazil (one of the few on stage that was in time

Re: Yeah!!!! we did it!
I think everyone is of the opinion that the conductor wasn't great, but i agree that we shouldn't be too hard on him. When it comes down to it he is a professional conductor, and was trying to co-ordinate a load of normal people, i for one was completely lost when he tried the first thing with the up-down-left-right.
He quickly changed his plan and worked to some degree, although again we need to take some of the blame as people we're clearly ignoring him and doing their own thing. At one point i was following him and was a good beat out with everyone else. Far play to him he adjusted to fit in with everyone.
My thoughts for future events it to maybe put up single lights linked to a metronome. May be a delay with them fading in and out, but may be worth trying.
Now for a bit of stirring up...I've seen lots of people raving about the Robin Whatsisname, but i was thouroughly unimpressed with him. I have no idea who he is or what he's played on (like most of the other pros there), but maybe in future he could try hitting his drums rather than just waving his arms about.
I've got to say though that i thought the other pros were great, but the best for me was Carl Brazil. Again i know nothing about him but really enjoyed his performance.

Re: Yeah!!!! we did it!
No delay if they used led par cans.
I thought that's what they would have done.
I have some led and the controller has a tap tempo.
I don't think we should be so hard on the conductor though.

Re: Yeah!!!! we did it!
I was a bit lost when the conductor was doing the up down side to side thing but when he started just the up and down with the arms that was fine. I think he did rather well considering there was almost 600 drummers of varying levels of skill and timekeeping so to put it across in a way that everyone understands to a point he did rather well.
Was really impressed by the quality of players there and was blown away by some of the young folk, but as for the professional players I really think it was Karl Brazil that hit the spot. Jason Bittner is an awesome drummer aswell but I was a bit annoyed with him because I ran out the back after his clinic at drumfest to try and meet him and he said he said to me and a couple of others he would be right back and then never came back out. Standing like a lemon for 10 minutes but oh well what can you do!
Good weekend in all

Re: Yeah!!!! we did it!
Couple of Questions that may sound stupid, but i don't know:-
1. What is the current running total of money raised?
2. Was the record confirmed? Its obviously all over the news, but the 3 of us who travelled there and back together all thought someone on stage said it needed to be verified.
3. Can someone set up a page that we can all upload our pics to.

Did you see Robin on Sunday? Excellent!!!!! and he was such a performer. Everyone was brilliant, but Robin stood out for me as the entertainer. He was also a lovely man, happy to speak to everyone and sign autographs. (and he asked us about our playing too!)
Loved Jason, Glen, Jojo, Carmine, and Simon too on Sunday, completely different styles, which as a beginner is fascinating

Jason was in the pub with us for most of Sunday evening, and joined in our impromptu clinic, (though was overshadowed by several others!!) and then wherever we went, he seemed to be there
though I threw him out of my hotel room,,Cheeky bugger

I really didn't realise that! Was he down at the Flapper? I came down about 9 o clock in the evening after my powernap turned into a full blown sleep and i was out for it for a couple of hours more than I wanted to be!
I know that time for those guys is always a bit pressed but Jason is a major drumming idol of mine and I just wanted to say hi and he never came back! Always another time though I suppose :-)
And yeah I would really like to know how much we've raised in total! I made an extra £30 on justgiving over the 2 days I was away and Im sure I won't be the only one
Cheers

Couldn't get down on Sunday after gigging on Friday and Saturday so i didn't see Robin. I know the compare said he was awesome on Sunday, but from all i could see of him ALL DAY on Monday was he seemed to just put his arms up in the air with the occasional hit. His arm movements gave the illusion he was hitting more. My thoughts were, 'Bit of a Prat' but when all is said and done he's earning money doing what most of us would consider a dream job.
Re: Yeah!!!! we did it!
We did it proud.....and played it LOUD!!!
Well done all!
Agree we must get our hands on a DVD etc....
By the way, was it me or could we hardly hear the PA at the back?
Perhaps next time...TURN IT UP!!!?

Sure you've all had the email from Rick, Karen and Craig.
"We are working hard now on verifying the event with Guinness."
A one two three four
Record Breaker,
If you're the tallest, the smallest,
If you're the fattest, the thinest, if you always win it,
Your the fastest, the slowest, if you really go,
Then you're a record breaker, a record maker,
You're a record breaker.
If you're the best, the worst , longest immersed,
If you're the base, the ace, furthest in space ,
If you can score, more, that a herbivore ,
Then you're a record breaker, you're a record maker,
You're a record breaker.
If you can fly like a bird,
If you can play the highest note, ever heard ,
If you could swim the Atlantic ,
Then the records, mmm, they would go frantic .
If you're the rarest, the fairest, grown the longest hair ,
If you're oldest, the boldest, got the most gold ,
If you're the newest, the fewest, largest tattoo,
Then you're a record breaker, you're a record maker,
You're a record breaker.
If you could lift, twenty tonnes ,
If you could score, ninety-nine thousand runs,
The whole sporting world, would applaud it,
The McWhirters, mmm, they would record it.
If you're the wildest, the mildest, cleverest child ,
If you're the strongest, longest, never been wrong,
If you're the latest, the greatest, then you can state,
That you're a record breaker, you're a record maker,

Yeah We did it - What a great day - Thought this might raise a smile
Modesty Forbids!
Because of my English nature I like to avoid such fuss
Though being a record holder can often make one blush
Fame is so very tiresome and rather a tedious bore
So please don’t ask about it because it’s really such a chore.
It’s purely the odd slips of the tongue and by accident I did relay
that I’ve … well …accompanied professionals at the Birmingham NIA
I won’t say who because of course it would never do to name drop
But they filmed me playing on the day and signed me like a shot
Gosh how did that action picture end up on my mobile phone
It’s all so very embarrassing. I didn’t want it shown!
Nice of you to politely ask. Such serendipity.
Aw shucks! it just so happens I have another thirty three.
The drummer at the back, in red… O yes that’s really me!
Excitement can bring such yawning I do so agree
Yes you know I hate attention…to cope I’m at a loss
My stickit to’em T shirt? T’was the only not in the wash.
Limelight is an anathema, I spit with broad distain
A world record holder …Bah ( but I whisper….. long may it reign!)
I could actually never boast of it, surely you can and must concede
You know in fame I never bask O do you have to leave?
Sometimes I muse and wonder that a victim I could be
Caught up in self importance the culture of celebrity
But I spurn all sops to ego my modesty shines through
Presentment over content? no one ever could construe
O dear I’ve been rumbled you’ve seen right through my Bluff
To have been a small part of this venture I’m really very chuffed
So many positives in outcome with everyone to gain
From false modesty in future I will of course refrain.
